Project Organizer
The Living Maya project was produced by CIELO, a 501c3 non-profit organization. All proceeds from this project will go back into the non-profit towards funding indigenous-led initiatives in Guatemala.
Since 2019, CIELO has partnered with CEPC-Tolimán, a community-focused permaculture initiative in rural Guatemala founded and run entirely by indigenous Maya-Kaqchikel people. They are dedicated to protecting the environment and empowering the local community through ecological agriculture projects and training.
CEPC's work is based on a blend of principles from the Maya Cosmovision and Permaculture, which both stress the importance of working with natural systems. Through on-site projects and training. CEPC's work focuses on:
- Providing access to healthy, organic food
- Protecting local ecosystems
- Strengthening indigenous communities
- Increasing self-sufficiency and regional stability
